As many of you are aware we have been working hard for a number of months to be able to welcome 800 Prospective Parents to Bushey Meads as part of their important process of choosing a secondary school for September 2021. Plans were in place and risk assessments drawn up and shared with the HCC Public Health Teams to facilitate Covid-secure, physically distanced visits for small family groups – one group at a time and spreading the visits out between 10.30 am and 8.30 pm on Thursday of this week.
Unfortunately on Wednesday of this week we took the decision to cancel the event.
As a responsible member of our local community, we are mindful of the increase in Covid-19 cases in both Hertsmere and the wider County. The safety of everyone in and around Bushey, both school users and others, is our absolute priority.
Unfortunately, the recent tightening in Covid-19 guidance from the Government meant that holding the event would require several additional restrictions upon attendees at short notice.
We were really looking forward to welcoming so many visitors who had expressed a strong interest in our wonderful learning community here at Bushey Meads. Instead, we will be filming the school, including key messages from me and my colleagues. We will be sharing this with those who had booked onto the event in the next few days, for them to enjoy at home.
We do hope that this will still give the Year 6 students in particular a flavour of our great school and we look forward to welcoming their applications in due course.
I would like to thank all students who had volunteered to be guides and help out in faculty areas at the event and all parents and carers for your understanding and continued support in these complex times.
