Working Together in Oak House
Head of House Miss Sumpter started the week on a very positive note with all the students in Oak House and inspired them with her reflections on the incredible story of US Airways Flight 1549 – the plane which landed on the Hudson River and, through the incredible teamwork of all the crew, the passengers, emergency responders and ferry boat crews no one died and everyone survived.
She used this inspiring story to remind students about the benefits and attributes of those who work in a team; to listen to others, to remain calm, to communicate clearly and trust those around you. She also challenged the students to remember that any team is only as strong as the weakest member, so everyone has to play their part and take their responsibility within the team, showing respect for the greater good of the team as they do so. This tied in nicely with our 3 Rs as Bushey Meads of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships – something that we talk about a lot within and across our learning community.
The impactful picture of a clock was also shared on the big screen – emphasising the concept that every part (however small) is important. As we all strive to gain the best attendance across the 7 Houses at Bushey Meads, work with the best Attitude to Learning and raise as many food items as possible in our upcoming Foodbank Collection, the clock in Oak House needs to keep ticking well!
It was a great start to the week.
