The benefits of Extra-Curricular Activities

At Bushey Meads, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our school motto—Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships—guides everything we do, including the range of extra-curricular activities we offer. These activities provide students with the opportunity to grow in ways that complement their academic studies, helping them become well-rounded individuals and prepare for future success.

Participating in extra-curricular activities fosters respect for others, as students collaborate with peers from different backgrounds and learn to value diverse perspectives. Whether through team sports, clubs, or music ensembles, students practice responsibility by managing their time, balancing commitments, and taking ownership of their personal growth.

Most importantly, engaging in extra-curriculars has been shown to support positive mental health. Activities like drama, sports, and volunteering not only boost confidence but also provide a healthy outlet for stress, helping students build resilience. Being part of a team or group also strengthens relationships, allowing students to form lasting friendships and support systems that enhance their well-being.

We encourage all students to explore the wide variety of activities available at Bushey Meads, as these experiences will help them develop skills that go far beyond academics, fostering a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

For more information on our extra-curricular offerings, please visit our extended curriculum page for all we have to offer.

It would be great to see all students try at least one new club this term.
