Occasionally at this time of year staff are approached by parents and carers requesting private tutoring for their children (particularly those studying for Year 11 and 13 examinations in the summer). In line with national guidance and as a reminder, staff would be in breach of their contracts and the clear policies and procedures in place to protect themselves and avoid a conflict of interest if they agreed, so this scenario should be avoided.
As parents and carers, do encourage your children to attend all the additional revision classes on offer across the curriculum at Bushey Meads and commit to regular daily practice using all the many physical and online resources available to support your child’s progress and achievement.
Nearer the exams we will also be offering the opportunity for Year 11 and 13 students to attend our powerful Study Saturdays in the Learning Resource Centre and/or Sixth Form Centre. These popular sessions are a chance for students to attend school between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm on Saturdays in the run up to the exams and work with their peers in a supervised, inspiring environment, with access to state of the art computers and an array of past papers.
On occasions staff have also been able to recommend external tutoring companies, colleagues in other schools and appropriate ex-students if tutoring is still required.
