Deputy Headteacher Mr Searle led some inspirational assemblies focussing on the Theme of the Week Challenge this week. A short video clip of an olympic athlete who chose to challenge herself against the odds, resulting in an achievement that has been written down in the history books served as a poignant reminder as to the power of challenging oneself to incrementally improve. Challenge is not always easy, but it does help to take us out of our comfort zones into that zone where we do grow as people and develop that resilience that is so important in life – a character trait that is incredibly important for young people to develop as 21st century learners.
I would encourage you all as parents and carers to support your children to develop that all-important trait of resilience and to develop a healthy and positive attitude towards appropriate challenge – realising that it is good for you!
