Amazing Art!
The Art Department at Bushey Meads continues to be a real centre of excellence both in and beyond the school, and the staff in the department are supporting all students to excel at whatever level of ability they are. This is by them designing engaging lessons, providing great feedback and giving lots of positive encouragement along the way.
It is always inspiring to walk around the department and see the amazing work that is being produced – whether that is in the students’ portfolios or displayed across the department and in the BSJT Gallery.
Outstanding use of a whole range of assessment strategies were seen during the visit and these strategies are clearly impacting so positively and supporting all students to be clear about the next steps to take to improve their work and make great progress over time. There are home learning tracking sheets, a variety of peer and self assessment opportunities and stickers used to capture these moments, green pen marking and clear targets for improvement, mini and final assessment sheets and grids to show the next steps that are needed to be taken and a real sense of pride in the artistic and written work produced throughout the year.
It was so impressive and worthy of showcasing to all staff in and beyond our school.
