After a full term of creativity, collaboration, and hard work, our Year 9 students took to the stage this week for the much-anticipated Dance Choreography Competition – an event that truly showcased the depth of talent and imagination in our students.

Throughout the term, students worked in small groups to design, refine, and rehearse their own original choreography. Under the guidance of their dance teachers, they explored key elements of movement such as formation, dynamics, musicality, spatial awareness, and storytelling. One group was selected from each class, and then the competition took place.
On performance day, the energy in the room was amazing. The dancers told powerful stories through movement and our Judges praised the students’ commitment and the maturity of their creative choices, noting how impressive it was to see such thoughtful choreography from Year 9 dancers.

Two of our A Level dance students used their knowledge from GCSE and A Level dance to choose our winners based on the choreography grading assessment. A special congratulations goes to the winning group, whose piece combined striking musical interpretation with a strong thematic message.

Well done, dancers and congratulations to our winners!
