Fantastic Friday Focus in the Science Faculty

Fantastic Friday Focus in the Science Faculty
I was very impressed to see the calm and focussed atmosphere for learning in all the science labs I visited on the last day of the half term before the recent holiday.
In some classes they were completing a test under the watchful supervision of Head of Physics Mr Newton to identify how much they had learned over the first half term of the year and what gaps in their learning they might need to fill. In other classrooms students were being motivated effectively to complete a ‘Do Now’ activity, introducing the new topic of learning for the lesson.
In an A level biology lesson students were identifying their prior learning related to the anatomy of the eye and looking to take their knowledge to a deeper level under Lead Practitioner Ms Atchuthan’s expert direction. In Mr Tahir’s class students were self-marking a short assessment task with purple pen, effectively highlighting gaps in knowledge to revise from to extend their learning.
It was impressive to see and I wish all our students well as they continue to make progress with their learning in this important core faculty area of our school.
