More Best Teacher 2024.25 Student Nominations

I would like to once again thank the 310 students who took the time to send in a nomination for their ‘best teacher’ from 2024.25 at the end of the last academic year. All staff received a nomination and found it uplifting to read the wonderfully encouraging citations. Here are a few more of them for you to read:

Congratulations Mr Lyley
He is the perfect balance of fun, to keep the class fully engaged, but also strict enough that everyone behaves well and completes the work. He explains the content really well and regularly does knowledge quizzes, which help to guide ourselves as to what we need to focus our revision on. He prepares us for all of the questions that will come up in our exams by doing sample questions, which we go through as a class and then complete in timed conditions and thoroughly mark, so we know what we need to improve. He can also adapt lessons when it is necessary, for example when it was really hot we worked outside in the shade. He’s also very friendly and approachable at break/lunchtimes if you have any questions. Year 10 Student

Congratulations Miss Joannou!
She actually cares about her students. Year 11 Student

Congratulations Mr Dawson!
He was so supportive throughout the entirety of year 13. That man truly deserves an award for his excellence. Not only is his subject knowledge very extensive and to a high calibre but his teaching style is very interactive. Throughout his lessons we tend to have discussions as opposed to note taking, which allows us to have the knowledge stored in our memory for the long term. He was always firm but fair and especially to myself regarding my attendance, he truly pushed me to attend lessons even on the days where I really did not have the energy to. On days you’re feeling unwell or lack energy he is very mindful while also making sure you take away valuable information. Not only did he cover the curriculum perfectly, he also taught us so many interpretations and contextual links, which benefitted us especially during such an important academic year. I felt that my writing had developed very deeply and my grades had changed drastically throughout year 13, even though he had only been teaching my class for one year. We viewed him as a peer instead of an intimidating teacher and he always made sure to check in on us, have 1 on 1 sessions and always asked us about our weekends alongside general conversation within our lessons. He truly is the best teacher in BMS and I’m very grateful that he took our class. Any other class would be very lucky to experience even one lesson with him. Without him I would not have received an A in my coursework and I can speak on behalf of every student in that class when I say we all enjoyed going to his lessons. Thank you Mr Dawson for all your hard work and perseverance. Year 13 Student

Congratulations Mr Murray!
Made geography the best option I picked out of my 3 GCSE options. Year 10 Student

Congratulations Miss Samuels Redhead!
She was my CDC teacher, maths teacher and further maths teacher. She’s kind, patient and overall just a great teacher that knows what they were doing and how to help the class out when needed. Year 13 Student

Congratulations Mr Cartledge!
He has improved me in PE. Year 8 Student

Congratulations Miss Uddin!
She is a fun teacher and made my English lessons wonderful. Year 8 Student
