Our transition process for our new Year 7 students starts well before they arrive at Bushey Meads and much of what we do at every stage is considered to be ‘best practice’ that many other schools emulate.
It is always nice to receive positive feedback and the words below echo the sentiments of many of our new Year 7 parents I have spoken to recently.
EMAIL FROM A NEW YEAR 7 PARENT
3rd September 2018
Dear Mr Turner,
I am writing to thank you and your team involved in organising the three fun days for the new entrants. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her time over the three days and had the opportunity to meet with her new year 7 group, ahead of starting her new school next week.
As parents we were somewhat concerned as to how she would settle in (as transition from primary to secondary can be very overwhelming) however I am very pleased to inform you that the three days has given our daughter a boost in her confidence and she is already very much looking forward to starting in her new school. Seeing this confidence in her following the three days gives us comfort that we are in safe hands and she will settle in without any cause for concerns.
The efforts of your team have not gone unnoticed and this also includes the tea party. Therefore I would like to thank you for giving her the opportunity to participate in these activities. I would strongly suggest that you continue to run these types of events/activities for all new students as our daughter certainly found these to be of benefit to her and of course us as parents.
Thank you once again and I am certainly looking forward to hearing about how she settles in and on her progress. I look forward to meeting with you and your staff members in the coming months and many more similar emails to follow….
Best wishes
Mother of Year 7 Student
