Every Friday our school falls silent for 20 minutes and in every CDC Time students are read to by their Character Development Coaches as they carefully follow the texts with special Bushey Meads School bookmarks. Interspersed with occasional discussions about the meaning of key words, this simple but powerful strategy reinforces the auditory with the visual and supports the development of rich language for all.
On Friday 11th February it was a real privilege to walk around the Science Faculty and see every single student fully engaged, using their bookmarks properly and listening quietly and attentively to their CDCs reading some great literary texts to them – it made for a very powerful start to the day.  I would like to thank all our science based CDCs for the excellent work they are doing to support our whole school literacy agenda. It was very impressive
