Internet Safety Week

This week our Main School Assemblies have focussed on the hugely important topic of internet safety. In line with this year’s theme of All Fun and Games but also exploring how to have respectful relationships online, Assistant Headteacher Ms Knowles has made us all think very carefully about our all-important digital footprint which can affect the rest of our lives and also needing to always think before posting. We are all connected to the internet and the importance of being kind online is something to really consider carefully.

The images show some startling statistics about how the internet has made young people feel and nearly half of all teenagers have responded in a very recent national poll to state that they have been cyberbullied in recent months, with 1 in 4 students acknowledging that the internet and social media has made them feel bad about themselves.

At Bushey Meads School our Mantra of ‘Having a Mind to be Kind’ is something we encourage at all times and especially when we are online. As parents and carers do continue to play your part in monitoring online activities and remind your children about these important messages that Ms Knowles shared this week
