You’ve Got Flair in the ARTS

We’ve had a brilliant Flair Week in the Performing & Visual Arts Faculty, celebrating the students’ talents and initiative to take on leadership roles within the classroom.

In Dance, we have included an awards ceremony at the end of every lesson, aimed at rewarding those students that have challenged themselves and motivated their peers to complete outstanding work. This is something we will now be introducing to the last week of every half term along with our Dance Department Awards. Students in all year groups were also given the opportunity to take the lead and run the warm up starter for their class, with a Flair Award up for grabs!

One Music student in particular showed brilliant flair this week by giving a 30 minute presentation discussing the music in the famous video game series, Mario Kart. Anton Brown’s understanding and knowledge was presented with great detail and very much appreciated by his class. Well done Anton!
The Performing & Visual Art Department spent the week completing learning walks dedicated to taking inspiration and observing the amazing flair and challenge activities going on. In Art, the teachers rewarded students’ work with Flair certificates as well as the ‘You’ve Got Flair in the Arts’ postcards I designed. Elizabeth Jackson a Year 12 Graphic Art student has created a children’s book, included with her own illustrations and artwork as well as interactive pop up details on every page. It’s very clear we have many talented students at Bushey Meads.
It’s has been a week of success and happiness at Bushey Meads. All students will be entering their Easter break feeling confident they have achieved something great this term. Well done to all the winners! See below for many smiley faces 🙂
