Developing Confidence

It was great to join the Sixth Form students in their Main School Assembly on Monday morning this week which was led by Deputy Headteacher Ms de Groot on the theme of confidence.

She reminded students that confidence comes from a place of hard work, resilience and determination to practise things in order to get better and one of the keys things in a school environment to remember is that being in the right place at the right time is key. In other words aiming for good attendance (95% as a minimum) is essential to developing those aforementioned attributes and becoming confident to taste success.

Research shows that students who have good attendance at school, by the time they are 28 years of age, are likely to be earning over £10 000 more than those who don’t. That’s a good argument for maintaining great attendance!

As parents and carers please encourage your children to attend school every day – aiming for 100% attendance if possible.

Confidence also comes from surrounding yourself with people who do you good and encourage you. Obviously the key people who do this at BMS are our hardworking teachers and Learning Assistants, so the more time you spend with them the greater confidence and better chance of success you will have.

We hope our Year 13 students do that extra bit over the coming weeks to boast their confidence as they go into their all-important final exams which we hope will open exciting doors for each one of them in the future.
