Comment: Friday afternoon saw us visit Queens for a league match against a strong side. We started the game well and contested much of the first half well. We created a few chances but failed to have any shots that challenged the Queens goalkeeper. Later in the first half we unfortunately conceded from a corner which soared over our defences head and right onto a Queens head to take the lead. Into the second half we stepped up a bit, started winning the ball more in the middle of midfield and created some more chances as we drove at them. We managed to get a goal back through F. Fowler spectacularly hit a volley from the edge of the 18 yard box and into the far corner of the goal, sending it looping over the goalkeeper. We then lost a bit of concentration and conceded another two taking the score to 4 – 1. After this, we stepped up and created some more chances ourselves through the driving runs on the wing and we started to fill the box. We missed a handful of excellent opportunities but forgot our shooting boots at times. Into the final 15 minutes and we stepped up again which saw goals from N. Konopka & H. McManus late in the game to take the score to 4 – 3. Unfortunately, not enough time for us to get another goal in the game, but overall a good second half performance but our slow start cost us.

Comment : Friday afternoon saw us visit Queens. Queens started the game strongly and took an early lead. However the boys redacted really well and equalised soon after. From that moment on the team grew from strength to strength and took a 3-1 lead into the break. The second half started how the first finished as the boys continued to apply pressure to the queens defence creating excellent goal scoring opportunities. The team soon extended their lead and the game finished 6-1. A fantastic performance from everyone involved.

Commended performances : E. Platt
Comment : After a tough start and 3-0 down very early on in the game, with a refocus on defending as a unit and more competitive in midfield, the boys were able to come back into the game and create chances. A great effort from the team and from half time onwards the game was very equal and a couple of well taken goals in the second half of the game by BMS.

Comment :Friday night football saw the year 7 B team experience their first away day at Queens. The year 7’s settled into the game quite nicely after trying to force a few counter attacks and some phases of possession based football. Queens did have a few opportunities in the first half but where denied through D. Henry making smart stops and feeling comfortable with the ball at his feet ready to distribute the ball to the wide players to start counter attacks. Once the boys found their rhythm we started to control the midfield areas through A. Tobias and C. Holt. This ultimately lead to a few chances for B. Latham who forced some very good saves out of the Queens goalkeeper. The Meads kept on applying pressure and shortly after J. Magkhaforukis scored a spectacular lob over the Queens goalkeeper which made us go 1-0 up. After this we continued to apply pressure we made substitutions early meaning that the players where coming on were always ready to make an impact. A few minutes after this I. Hanbury came on to put us 2-0 up. Midway through the half. Once again we showed promising signs of attack through E. Boyce down the channels and B. Latham in attack but unfortunately couldn’t add to the tally.
At the start of the second half Bushey Meads started off slowly with Queens being on the front foot, they forced A. Tiernan into making a few smart saves early on. Queens continued to apply early pressure however our defence held firm with T. Colby and E Frigot making some smart blocks and interceptions, to try to apply less pressure onto our goal. During the second half Queens started to dominate the midfield and started to have us pinned into our own half. The defence remained resilient and put in a fine display. Unfortunately Queens managed to pull a goal back by a fluke spectacular effort which went in. Now the score at 2-1, this then shifted momentum into Queen’s favour and 5 minutes later had the score back to 2-2. The boys did try to build up the passing play but struggled which lead to a few more nervous moments when they hit our crossbar. Another opportunity went begging for Queens. Finally A. Teirnan was once again called into action when a powerful shot was struck and he tried to tip it over but it didn’t pay off, lucky he managed to scramble back to his goal line to stop the ball from going in. Lots of spectators claiming it went in but it didn’t. This then made the boys wake up and realise that they were under pressure. When we did go on the attack Z. Barnes was battling hard on the right of the midfield drawing attention due to his magnificent hold up play, playing nice passes to his teammates and winning free kicks in our favour. This gave us more ambition to chase the game. Finally in the later stages of the match we tried to exploit the Queens defence using Z. Barnes long throws which made their defence shaky at times which did lead to some corners, but unfortunately we couldn’t convert them.
Finally the final whistle went and ultimately the game was a tale of two halves, but it was a great experience for everyone involved and we look forward to building on this performance and take it into our next game.

Comment : Monday saw the year 11 team play their second game of the season against a strong Croxley Danes side. The game started very evenly with both teams creating good chances to score. However, it was Croxley Danes that took the lead from a corner. The team responded really well and took a 3-2 lead into half time. In the second half the team started slowly and Croxley Danes took advantage of this by scoring three quick goals. We then pulled a goal back to make it 5-4 but Croxley Danes again extended their lead to make it 7-4. Some really positive performances to take into the next game despite the result.
