RUGBY
Year 8 Boys District Development Festival 4 @ Saracens RFC Mr Cartledge
Date : Mon 19th January 2026
Results: 3rd/4th Place Play-Off v Hemel Hempstead Drew 15-15
Squad : N Cunningham, A Hodgson, T Kearney, L Soteriou, B Stanley, M Thomas-Buck, R Pack, S Isles, M Vance, A Nguyen, B Rusi
Commended performances: Whole team !
Comment : Following three rounds of fixtures the boys made it through to the 3rd and 4th place play-off in Finals night at Saracens. A really strong start by the opposition saw Hemel move into a 10-0 lead early on. However the boys showed great spirit and resilience and some really good attacking rugby to turn the match around. Superbly led by captain N Cunningham, the games outstanding player, tries from R Pack, B Rusi and S Isles saw the game turned in BMS favour but a late try from Hemel meant the game finished in a draw, a fair outcome. Special mention to T Kearney who was excellent with his defensive work. The boys can all be proud of their efforts over the 4 weeks of matches with all showing a great attitude and real desire to improve. Well done all !

\BASKETBALL
Year 9 Boys v WATFORD BOYS (District Prem League) HOME Mr Cartledge
Date: Tuesday 13th January 2026
Result: Lost 61-24
Scorers : E Silver 18, R Samin 6
Squad: E Silver, J Huryta, R Samin, C Allan, Z Butler, J Magkafourakis, G Jabarkhail, L Morian, D Isles, O Phillips, E Rumney, A Hashmi,
Comment: Having been promoted last year this is going to be a step up this year and this was reflected in the first match of the season v Watford Boys. The boys started well with some excellent defensive work and E Silver scoring 6 baskets in the first quarter to keep the scores tied at 12-12. However some excellent offensive basketball from the Watford Boys team saw them dominate the remaining 3 quarters and run out comfortable winners. The boys worked extremely hard and there were positive aspects for the boys to build on in the remaining games.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Year 8 Girls – Tournament @ Queens School
Date: Tuesday 20th January 2026
Results: Won 1 game, Lost 3 games
Squad: A Kumah, E Jacks, Z Loison, J Depasquale, Z Alenizi, G Zameyo, F Sheward, E Coetzee, J Hearn, V Delenskia and E Wurr.
Comment: A great turnout from the Year 8 girls for their first Basketball tournament this year. The first game started great against Queens B, where the team started with good momentum. Finding that they were moving around the court well and attempting many shots. This was a 4-0 win and started off positive. As they continued onto the next games, opponents became tougher and games were at a faster pace against Queens A, Parmiter’s and Reach Free. All the girls had many minutes of court where they got to play different positions and played with different members of the team. It was a very enjoyable evening for the girls with points scored and a good competitive environment.
NETBALL
Mixed yr group v Parmiters (Friendly) AWAY Mrs Cooper
Date : Monday January 12th 2026
Result : Lost 29-19
Squad : E.Hauff (13) P.Pryra (13) V.Hill (12) A.Gibson (11) M.Huryta (10) Y.Khan (10)
Commended performances : M.Huryta – fantastic shooting
Comment : It was lovely to see students across KS4/5 come together to play this friendly game against Parmiters. It was tough from the onset and Parmiters took an early lead. However some fantastic shooting ensured BMS stayed in touch. The second quarter followed in a similar vein with Parmiters maintaining their lead.
However the resilience of the BMS team was clear to see, the girls kept working hard and their never give up attitude saw them dominate and win the final 2 quarters. Although not an overall victory there were lots of positives to take from the performance and it was nice to see the girls come together to form a new team.
Well done ladies.
Year 8 v St.Clement Danes (League) AWAY Miss Sunpongco
Date : Wednesday January 14th 2026
Result : Lost 18-24
Squad : V Delenska, N Mowle, J Hearn, F Shire, E Jacks, E Coetzee, F Sheward and E Wurr
Commended performances : N Mowle and V Delenska – Good movement around the attack and good shooting.
Comment : BMS put on a fantastic show against SCD B, proving they have both skill and determination. After an evenly matched start, BMS dominated the second quarter to take a well-earned lead. There was great movement around the court as the girls found their rhythm working with each other. The opposition fought back hard in the third to pull ahead, but the girls did not back down. The final quarter was a total battle, showing off some great netball and real grit. Even when the pressure was on, the team stayed focused and fought for every ball right until the end!
Well done to all! and to Freya as the opposition’s POTM.
YEAR 11 GCSE PE PRACTICAL MOCKERATIONS
Date: Tuesday 20th January – Home
Activities: Netball and Table Tennis with St.Margarets and Immanuel
Date: Wednesday 21st January @ Rickmansworth
Activities: Trampolining – district schools
This week saw the opportunity for our yr 11 GCSE PE student to take part in ‘Practical Mockerations’, practice practical moderations. These are a fantastic opportunity organised to help prepare the students for their upcoming real practical moderation (exam).
Students are asked to perform the core and advanced skills from the practical specification before taking part in competitive game situations. Coupled with this they get to compete against students from other schools. This provides valuable assessment opportunities for staff and ensures that grading is stringent and fair to all students.
As always the BMS students worked hard throughout each of the sessions, showcasing their skills and aiming for their best possible mark.
Well done to all the year 11 students who were moderated and thank you to those students who helped support the process.

It is essential that students have the full correct PE kit for all lessons. This includes shinpads and black /yellow socks when participating in football lessons and also a pair of white sports socks for all other activities. Students will be reminded when activities change.
