We were delighted to welcome three ladies from Portugal this week who are all superfans of our most famous alum, George Michael. They are in the UK for a week visiting locations connected to George and Wham and they were delighted to visit his secondary school where it all started. They posed with our Blue Plaque on the Music Block’s wall honouring George and wanted to know what his grades were like – which unfortunately I couldn’t tell them!
I am so proud of our brilliant Year 13s, Rares and Juliana who translated all of our conversation perfectly from Portuguese to English and vice versa . This really made the visit special for the ladies as they had many questions which we could answer and I could also relay that while I am not as big a fan of George Michael as they are – I did see Wham in concert at Wembley nearly 40 years ago!
