As part of our Flair week events, we were fortunate to welcome Peter Taylor CEO of United World Schools (UWS) to Bushey Meads. Peter’s visit began with an impactful assembly for Year 7 and 8 students, where he shared the incredible work of UWS in providing education to children in areas facing extreme education poverty. Peter highlighted UWS’s mission to give every child access to quality education, regardless of their circumstances, and encouraged our students to seize every opportunity they can during their own time at school.
The Year 7 and 8 students were inspired by the global efforts of UWS, learning about the importance of education as a tool for empowerment and change in communities where schooling is often inaccessible.
Later, Peter engaged with our Sixth Form Business and Economics students, offering an insightful talk about his career journey. From his early days as an accountant to his time in private equity and ultimately his transition to his current role at United World Schools, Peter’s story was both motivating and thought-provoking. He spoke candidly about the challenges and rewards he had experienced, as well as the importance of using one’s skills to make a meaningful impact in the world.
We are grateful to Peter for his time and the valuable lessons he shared with our school community.i
