As part of Bushey Meads School’s commitment to enhance our dance students’ understanding of the subject, we were delighted to have the opportunity to see and experience Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. One of the most successful musicals of all time, this new West End production features the songs Willkommen, Don’t Tell Mama, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and the title number Cabaret – with Berlin’s famous Kit Kat Club brought to life through the transformation of London’s Playhouse Theatre.
The trip was aimed at students studying A Level Dance as well as students in Year 11 that are interested in selecting A Level Dance next academic year. Our A Level students are expected to analyse the dance style, culture and history seen in Cabaret within the A Level course so watching this work live on stage was an incredible opportunity. It’s important for students to be able to discuss and explore various dance styles and take inspiration from professional works performed in these established theatres. Watching a live performance often inspires ideas and provides further development of knowledge too. The trip was a huge success and the students loved the performance!
