Governors Visit to BMS
On Friday afternoon it was great to welcome our Chair of Governors and a prospective new Governor to the school and walk around a number of different lessons taking place during lesson 5.
Students in The Laurel were using some superb software to make predictions about electrical circuits and were enjoying seeing their virtual circuits light up when the predictions were correct. The atmosphere for learning was very positive and, at the end of a tour of the amazing Specialist Resource Provision here at BMS, it made for a fitting end to the tour of this key area of our school.
We also visited G Block where some superb maths lessons were taking place. Students were making the most of their access to chromebooks and some powerful online learning platforms, using them to consolidate their learning from earlier in the week and test themselves with real life exam style questions. Pictured here Seneli in Year 10 is explaining to our important visitors about the lesson.
Advanced Lead Teacher Mr Godfrey was also in full swing, really effectively using mini whiteboards and targeted questioning to tease out students’ understanding about volumes of complex shapes. It was positive to see so many students grappling with the challenge and willing to contribute their ideas and thoughts about the topic being studied.
Our visitors were very complimentary about the behaviour for learning and the calm atmosphere across the school site – even during the last lesson of the week with home time imminent. It was impressive to see such great learning taking place.
