Superb Engagement with Friday Reading
Last Friday I visited some exemplary Character Development Groups and witnessed some superb Friday Reading sessions led by a number of outstanding Character Development Coaches. In every CDC room the CDC was reading the text with expression, pausing on some of the more complex words and discussing their meaning and all students were quietly following the text with their BMS bookmarks.
Friday Reading always makes for a very quiet and purposeful start to the day and supports the continued development of good literacy across the school community.
As parents and carers do continue to encourage your children to read regularly – if they can on a daily basis, as we know that children that read widely and often, achieve great success at GCSE and A level and in life beyond school.
