On the 6th June 2025, the STEMPOINT and MBDA organisation organised an event at MBDA UK Ltd, Six Hills Way, Stevenage. The purpose of this workshop is to celebrate women who work in the engineering field and also encourage Year 8 and Year 9 students to consider the engineering work as their future career.
Ten Year 8 and 9 students went on this trip and they learned about what it is to be like to be an engineer. They were given a short talk by Natalie Salem, Chief of staff to Group MBDA, a career talk by Vicki Saltana, the Head of Integration & System Validation UK (missiles) and the students listened to two inspiration talks by two of their Engineering role models:
The mini engineering challenge workshop was fun and the students were very encouraged to complete the challenge and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
When the sessions were finished, students filled in an evaluation form and we headed straight back to Bushey Meads School at 2.30pm. The students had enjoyed the trip and they also displayed excellent behaviour throughout the trip. I am glad that the students had enjoyed the workshop and it has been a very educational trip indeed.
I am excited to announce that the University of Hertfordshire is offering a fully funded summer school program designed to inspire Year 10 students to consider a career in...
