The Power of Progress

The Power of Progress
Head of Standards, Safeguarding and SEND Mrs Ash led some powerful main school assemblies last week on the subject of Progress. She reminded students about our motivational school saying ‘From Little Seeds MIghty Trees Can Grow’ and explained that it all starts with those all important small first steps, taken daily over a long period of time. As teachers we see students grow brilliantly over time and see the key link between attitude to learning in lessons and at home, excellent attendance and having a growth mindset – never giving up just because the learning gets a bit hard; it is at times like that that real learning takes place.
She also reminded students to make the most of all the leadership and extra-curricular opportunities on offer at the school; these aspects of our school also help all students to grow and make great progress. As parents and carers do talk to you children about these key issues:
  1. Are they always attending school everyday?
  2. Are they working hard in every lesson and at home?
  3. Have they joined any new clubs this year?
  4. Have they applied for one of the many student leadership roles in the school?
If they can answer positively to all the questions above, they will undoubtedly make great progress throughout their time at Bushey Meads.
