BSJT Basketball Tournaments
On Wednesday 30th April we welcomed Year 5 students from Little Reddings and Hartsbourne Primary Schools for a mini basketball festival. The sessions were expertly delivered by our new Year 10 Sports Leaders who were excellent role models throughout. Coaching sessions were delivered in the key skills of passing, dribbling and shooting before some game play to finish the sessions. The primary students were fantastic, showing great enthusiasm and a real desire to learn. Thanks to every one involved for another really successful primary secondary event.
GCSE PE Moderation – Mrs Cooper
Wednesday 30th April @ Queensmead School Ruislip.
This years’ GCSE PE moderation (practical exam) took place in the sweltering heat in West London. Students were selected by the exam board (OCR) to attend the day to perform against students form oth
er schools in order to ensure the marks they have been awarded are fair and standardised.
After an early start … We arrived at our destination where students were then required to participate in either Badminton, Netball, Table-Tennis, Handball or Football depending on their selected activities.
In all activities the students worked really hard to justify the grade they have been given and in order to show the 10!! teachers and examiners their execution of core and advanced skills both in isolation and in competitive situations.
It was a long, hot day but the BMS cohort did themselves and the school proud with their efforts and should be congratulated on this.
Their attempts at a human pyramid however might need a little more practice…..
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of the GCSE PE students the best of luck in their exams, I am sure they will be rewarded for their efforts.
Year 7 Development Rugby Festival @ Saracens RFC Mr Harris
Date: Monday 28th April
Result: Won 2, Lost 1.
Squad: D. Lissner, E. Hope, A. Hodgson, N. Cunningham, G. Bees, F. Murphy, L. Soteriou, E. Faye, M. Thomas-Buck, J. Hayward, J. Barrett, M. Vance.
Commended performances: ALL
Comment: On Monday, the Year 7 boys made their final visit of the year to StoneX Stadium, taking part in a competitive round-robin rugby tournament against several local schools and teams from London.
ALL jewellery should be removed prior to the start of the lesson, including earrings, and hair should be tied up.
The boys gave it their all, demonstrating excellent teamwork and some impressive rugby skills—tackling the biggest players on the pitch and scoring several well-crafted tries. Their attitude and sportsmanship throughout the tournament were outstanding.
They finished the day with two wins and one loss. In the first game, they staged a fantastic comeback; the second match was a close-fought contest, and in the final game, they came through as comfortable winners.
A huge well done to all involved for their commitment, effort, and positive attitude throughout the rugby season.
PE kit
It is essential that students have the full correct PE kit for all lessons. This includes shinpads and black /yellow socks when participating in football lessons and also a pair of white sports socks for all other activities. Students will be reminded when activities change. Students not bringing the correct kit will instantly receive consequence points.
Girls should be wearing plain black shorts which are longer than the length of their PE shirt or hoody. Leggings should be black sports leggings and not see through. Black tracksuit bottoms are also permitted.
