Building Positive Relationships
Lead Practitioner Miss Pattni and Advanced Lead Teacher Miss Sumpter led the Monday Magic Moment at the start of this week to end our Staff Briefing held in the main hall and reminded staff of how important it is to build positive relationships in the classroom – something that underpins all good teaching and learning.
Their presentation tied in with the theme that had been running through the INSET day at the start of the year as we considered what made our ‘best teacher’ at school. In general it reflected the positive relationship we had with that teacher.
Our two top teachers leading the Monday Magic Moment also provided us with some top tips as to how we can continue to build positivity in the classroom – knowing our students by name, involving them all with each and every activity, providing good feedback and using praise as much as we can to reward hard work and effort and also using questioning as a form of communication to reinforce that positive atmosphere for learning in our classroom were some of the excellent strategies they reminded us about.
As we start this new academic year, the atmosphere around school is very positive and I would like to thank all staff and students for their contribution to this excellent beginning.
