Research Based Pedagogy
It is always inspiring to hear from different staff across the school and hear about the latest research that underpins our outstanding practice in the classroom.
John Hattie is one of those educational researchers who has helped to shape classroom practice for a number of decades and it was great to hear from Mx Freeman about how his research on Visible Learning was impacting on her own practice and supporting more students to be active in their own learning.
Visible learning educates students on what they are supposed to learn, how they are meant to learn and more importantly how they can assess and measure their own progress. Mx Freeman has encouraged more student talk, discussion and questioning in her lessons to support this concept and has seen it to be a powerful tool to increase engagement and eliminate misconceptions.
The ‘Magic Moment’ presentation on Monday in Staff Briefing was an inspiring way to start the week.
