Fantastic Feedback about Feedback!
During our Friday Faculty Foci at the end of last week it was really positive to hear from Lead Practitioner Mrs Hoskins and Advanced Lead Teacher Mrs Jackson about how well our recent whole school Marking and Feedback Fortnight had been. During the fortnight all staff were encouraged to drop into lessons across the school and see the great practice that exists across all subjects in the area of marking and feedback. A high number of Marking and Feedback Champions were also identified during the fortnight to share best practice across the school to take this key agenda to the next level.
The best faculties in the school are fully embracing the concepts of different types of feedback indicated by our colourful stickers – peer, self, verbal and teacher based. In addition, DIRT, or Dedicated Improvement and Reflection Time, is carefully planned within all sequences of learning to ensure that all students do powerfully respond to the green pen teacher feedback, or feedback from their peers – redrafting and improving their work in Purple Pen as required.
As teachers we are very proud of what we have embedded across our school as we know that providing and facilitating students responding to feedback is one of the most effective teaching strategies to secure great progress.
As parents and carers do ensure that your children are always completing their stickers and responding to all green pen instructions and feedback provided. Do also check that the presentation of your child’s work is as good as it can been – titles and dates underlined, all diagrams neatly drawn and labelled and all worksheets stuck neatly into their books and folders.
