This week has been a sensational ‘Festival of Flair’. Students have been showcasing their Flair in an array of subjects across all key stages. During CDC sessions, our very own students have been delivering presentations on the theme of the week – Motivation! This has involved students putting together powerpoint presentations and engaging slides that provoke discussions. I have had the honour of listening to a number of these presentations and am blown away by the maturity, confidence and clarity with which they are being relayed to the class.
In MFL, James Gill delivered an entire language lesson to his peers. In Law, Business and Economics, Mrs Knowles and Mr Malik have hosted guest speakers that have raised career aspirations for our year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students. Mr Besisira and Miss Noyan have designed their own department certificates that have been earned and gratefully received by our Computer Science, IT and Dance students.
In PE our sports leaders have officiated the house football, netball and basketball competitions. Their organisation and leadership skills have flourished as a result of these experiences and it has been wonderful to see such large numbers of students participating in sport again.
We have been embracing ‘stretch and challenge’ tasks as an embedded part of our lesson planning. Please look at the superb interactive wall display photos that are lighting up our classrooms and of course, the learning experience for all.
On Friday, our year 11 ‘Time to Sh9ne’ group received a virtual presentation from the outreach team at Oxford University. Our students were given an insight into university life at the Balliol College campus. They were also provided with course selection tips and hints on how to apply and prepare for typical Oxbridge interview questions.
This is just a snapshot of our FLAIR celebrations this week. Please read more newsletter articles to get subject specific insights.
