We are delighted to announce that our new cohort of Sixth Form students recently attended a highly successful three-day First Lessons Event. This event, held at the end of the summer term, was designed to give our future Year 12 students a head start in their A-Level and BTEC studies, allowing them to experience their new subjects and get acquainted with the Sixth Form environment.
During the three days, students had the opportunity to attend introductory lessons in their chosen subjects, meet their future teachers, and engage with their peers. The sessions were interactive and informative, providing a taste of the exciting and challenging curriculum that awaits them in September.
Our dedicated Sixth Form staff were impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the students. The event not only highlighted the academic rigour of the courses but also underscored the supportive and collaborative atmosphere that defines our Sixth Form community.
Students participated in a range of activities, from group discussions in Politics to hands-on projects in IT, and analytical exercises in Business Studies. They also received an introduction to Maths, which will support their studies and enhance their analytical skills. These sessions were designed to inspire and motivate students, giving them a strong foundation to build upon in the coming year.
Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. Many appreciated the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Sixth Form’s expectations and resources, and they expressed excitement about starting their courses in September. One student remarked, “The First Lessons event was a fantastic way to get to know the subjects and teachers. It made me feel much more prepared and excited for the year ahead.”
In addition to welcoming our new students, we also had the pleasure of meeting their parents at our Meet and Greet Lunch. This event provided an excellent opportunity for parents to engage with the Sixth Form team, learn more about the support systems in place, and ask any questions they had about the upcoming school year. It was wonderful to see so many parents taking an active interest in their children’s education and to establish a strong partnership between school and home.
As we look forward to welcoming these students in September, we are confident that they will bring a great deal of energy and ambition to our Sixth Form. The First Lessons Event has set a positive tone for the upcoming academic year, and we are eager to support our new Year 12’s as they embark on this important stage of their educational journey.
Our Sixth Form team is committed to providing a stimulating and supportive environment where every student can thrive. We believe that the strong start provided by the First Lessons Event will help our new students to settle in quickly and achieve their full potential.
We are excited to see what the future holds for this promising group of young people and look forward to seeing them again in September with a warm welcome to Bushey Meads Sixth Form!
