YEAR 11 CV and Personal Statement Day

Friday’s enrichment day started with a talk about the transition from year 11 and the different pathways available to everyone; 6th Form, College or Apprenticeships.

I spoke about the importance of attending open evenings to find out more information about courses offered.

We were delighted to welcome Tricha Seecharran from CXK (Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge for Schools) who spoke about Apprenticeships and how you can continue to gain qualifications whilst earning a salary at the same time. We were also lucky enough to have Scott Gray from West Herts College who talked the students through the options available and expectations of further education in a college environment.

It was a great day with all students working extremely hard. Everyone was focused on producing a CV and Personal Statement which reflected their personal skills and attributes.

They were also introduced to a number of helpful websites where they could look at the support that is available to them, local part time vacancies, university courses etc.

All Year 11 students are being given an initial careers advice and guidance appointment with YC Herts. However, I am always on hand to offer further support and to meet with students with their parents/carers if they wish.
