This week, the year 7’s have been learning about the different patterns in a sequence. Once they have gained that knowledge, we looked at where sequences were applied in real life. Most of the students had a great interest in architecture. Linking in from our Gusto agenda for the most able students, we have discussed the architecture of Santiago Calatrava. The class looked at the different patterns he used in his designs and were really impressed with the designs he has created.

The class then looked at ladders and grids made from a combination of “L links”, “T links”, “X links” and “R rods”. They were given a task to work in pairs to find out the patterns from each building and writing the algebraic code that fit the pattern. Once done, they then created their own building following the codes. The students really enjoyed this task and was excited to design and present their work. Some pictures below of the students:

Hello, my name is Ruby Tamang and I will be telling you about my experience so far. It has been such a wonderful and pleasant time here. All of the teachers give you an opportunity to let you spread your knowledge to the people around you and they always help you when you are stuck. Math is one of my favourite subjects. I know a lot of people dislike math but in my opinion it’s the teachers that have an effect on if we enjoy maths. In maths we are/have learned negative and positive numbers, sequences, patterns and currently area and perimeter.

Hi my name is Maisie Hemens, and now I will be telling you a bit more about Bushey Meads School. This school has provided me with a great education and a good sense of community. The maths teachers in Bushey meads are always so polite and help you with anything you need. I enjoy maths as I always learn new things every lesson. We hope you have enjoyed this article.
