Sixth Form Students Apply for the Next Step

Wednesday 15th January at 6pm saw the deadline of submissions for applications for University close across the UK. At Bushey Meads we are proud to say that we have had more applicants for University courses than ever before. The students have carefully prepared their applications with personal statements declaring their academic passions and up to 5 choices.

This however is not the start of the process as many of our Sixth Form students have been off around the UK visiting the Universities for open days. It is often at these open days when the bond is made between student and University as there really is no better way to ‘get the feeling’ of a University and the faculty the student is applying for. This year at Bushey Meads 85 students are now waiting to hear from Universities as to whether they have an interview or a provisional place on their chosen courses. Moving forward we wish all the students the very best of luck in the interviews and that all students receive the offers they desire.

In addition to the University applications, the Sixth Form Team are busy supporting a further 25 students with their applications to a range of apprenticeships. These are more tailored to a specific career choices and have grown in popularity over the last 3 years as they offer access to higher education at a lower cost.

It is fantastic to be part of the next steps for the Sixth Form students. The plans for the future certainly play a part in focussing and motivating the students in the run in to the final summer examinations and that is already evident in Year 13.
