Pluck Dissection for Little Reddings

During science week, Little Reddings school visited Bushey Meads School to watch a pluck dissection and learn about the Heart, Lungs and Liver. This was fantastically supported by four of our dedicated sixth form students: Molly, Kimberley, Aarav and Edward. The sixth formers dissected the pluck and taught the students on the key functions of these major organs.

They also showed the ventilation of the lungs by attaching a pump to the bronchi and pushing air into the lungs. This was definitely a wow moment for the year sixes as they were fascinated by how the lungs changed in size. Many questions followed this and all students wanted to see more.

The year sixes were clearly engaged and fascinated by the dissections and this was down to the passion and enthusiasm our sixth formers have for Biology. This is just one example of the fantastic leadership that is developing in year 12 biology, with many of our year 12 students sharing this flair for biology.

Thank you to Molly, Kimberley, Aarav and Edward for supporting the dissections and for your enthusiasm and dedication to the biology team at Bushey Meads.
