Independence

It was superb to hear Associate Leader and Head of Sixth Form Mr O’Kelly speak to all our students in Main School assemblies this week about the importance of Independence and its link with Interdependence (the need to develop your independence but also build good relationships with others around you).He asked how many students had made the choice to attend Bushey Meads School and not simply attend their nearest school. From the hands in the air it was clear that many of our students choose to exercise their independence and join our wonderful learning community from a significant distance from our school; another example of the growing popularity of our school. He left is thinking about the key phrase ‘be stronger because of others around you’ – a really good piece of advice from one of our key leaders in the school and someone who is having a significant impact on our most senior students.
