Ms Waring’s Art lesson last week was another example of our outstanding learning culture we have developed over the last few years at Bushey Meads. All students were engaged from the outset, building on their well planned home learning task (to complete focussed artist research) and answering personalised directed questions to extend their knowledge.
This led into the main body of the lesson that enabled them to develop their own artistic skills, followed by a well organised group self and peer assessment task looking at the work they had produced in the lesson that made a superb class ‘pavement gallery’.
A final activity developed their ideas from a 2D format into a 3D sculpture made from a simple roll of paper, but nevertheless very impressive. Great progress of learning was observed throughout the lesson and was also evidenced over time in the clear ongoing teacher ‘green pen’ marking and ‘purple pen’ student responses.
No wonder students are doing so well at BMS!
