Best Practice in Dance

It was great to hear from our talented Dance teacher Miss Noyan in Staff Briefing on Monday morning of this week and hear how effectively students in her highly practical subject are embedding superb routines to capture evidence of great progress.

Through well organised and scaffolded assessment booklets, students self-assess themselves against clear practical criteria and demonstrate their progress over time.Orange verbal feedback stickers, green peer assessment and blue self assessment ones track the journey and highlight clear next steps to remind them how to move to the next level.

Students also note down the key words – emphasising and supporting the school’s drive to improve literacy across the curriculum.

She shared with her colleagues the impact the approach was having and how well students had engaged with the excellent method to support their progress and achievement.

It was an inspiring start to our week at BMS!
