In the last week of the Autumn term we were able to invite a host of former pupils into school. We are so proud of our students and endeavour to keep in touch so that A level results day isn’t the last contact we have with them. We were delighted at the response and (as you can see) the amount and range of former students who attended from the last 6 years.
The event began with a tour around the school site. This was provided by our current Sixth Form leaders who were eager to highlight all the new additions to Bushey Meads such as the new rooms, Art rooms, updated technology and of course, for some, our superb Bushey St James Gym. The tours culminated in the Canteen for refreshments where the former pupils were joined by staff for the opportunity to chat with them and each other. There was a real buzz in the room – from students who left last year relating about their exciting starts to their University courses and (often amusing) experiences of living away from home to alumni who left in 2016 who were surprised and impressed by how much the site has changed.
It was great to catch up with so many familiar faces that have left Bushey Meads over the last few years and to hear all their wonderful stories of where they are now and where those exam results have led. It was fascinating to find out if students had taken the education and career paths that they wanted to pursue or gone in a completely different direction. We are so pleased that former students take such pride in once being part of the Bushey Meads school community and most were enquiring as to when the next Alumni event would take place so that they could attend and bring their peers who couldn’t make it on this occasion.
Former pupils are such an inspiration to the younger years as they personify where hard work and determination to reach your goals can lead. We are so proud of them.
