Year 10’s Option Immersion Day

On Friday 2nd October, year 10 students enjoyed a day of excitement, engagement and invigoration when they attended the year 10 Option immersion events run by the Humanities and Social Sciences faculty.

A wide variety of enrichment activities were run by the outstanding staff within the faculty. Geography played ‘The Trade Game’ role playing different countries with different economies. The challenge for the groups was making the most money through trade but also dealing with obstacles, such as the odd tsunami, war, dictatorship or earthquake which halted production.

In economics, the day was divided into 5 activities from learning about the Bank of England, controlling £100 billion and promoting the Bank through a media campaign.

Psychology focused upon criminal psychology including creating a criminal profile and attempting to understand the psychology behind real life crimes.

RE debated the legalisation of euthanasia.

BS presented and created business ideas from their groups.
