FOOTBALL
Year 9A Boys v Queens B (Friendly) AWAY Mr O’Kelly
Date : Friday 20th September 2024
Result : Won 8 – 0
Squad : F. Hoy, E. Platt, R, Payne, F. Gee, A. Choudhury, R. Hodgson, R. Doran, J. Lewis, K. Walker, J. Evans, H. Trueman, K. Mistry, D. Snowden, E. Ebinca
Commended performances : R. Doran
Comment : A strong performance from the whole squad who were able to keep possession of the ball well throughout the game. Taking chances early in the game allowed the team to play with confidence and make use of the extra space on the large pitch. Following on from a tough game earlier in the week it was great to see the team work so hard for the whole 70 minutes.
Year 8A Boys v Queens B (Friendly) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Friday 20th September 2024
Result : Lost 2-1
Scorers : E Rumney
Squad : O Woodbrock (GK), N Gibson (Capt), E Rumney, C Allan, G Jabarkhail, G Fogden, D Isles, T Colby, Z Butler, D Henry, R Samin, D Mason
Commended performances : D Henry, C Allan
Comment : A disappointing defeat for the Year 8 boys after dominating the first half and then conceding two late goals. A 0-0 half time score was a harsh reflection on the performance of the boys who had controlled the game and missed several chances. An early goal from E Rumney in the second half gave the team a deserved lead but the boys failed to build on this and then conceded two breakaway goals in the later stages of the second half.
Year 7A Boys v Queens B (Friendly) AWAY Mr Harris
Date: Friday 20th September 2024
Result: Won 4 – 1
Scorers: J. Muraj, N. Cunningham, C. Vaughan, C. Killpack
Squad: C. Dias (GK), R. Gurney, J. Hayward, F. Murphy, J. Muraj, C. Killpack, T. Kearney, B. Hemmings ©, N. Cunningham, C. Vaughan, L. Soteriou
Commended performances: R. Gurney, C. Killpack, F. Murphy
Comment: In our second match of the season, the team started slowly, allowing Queens to be on top and we narrowly avoided falling behind early as the Queens winger sent a rocket off his boot which hit the bar. Not long after that, we found ourselves behind from a mishit corner that landed at a Queens’ foot and poked home. Despite the slow start we started to build, C. Killpack a star this afternoon was causing all sorts of trouble down the left hand side, whilst F. Murphy and his back line were managing to quell any Queens attacks. Not long before half time we managed to bag two goals, one from J. Muraj, a nicely stuck finish past the goalkeeper and N. Cunningham who danced past four players before slotting it calmly on his left foot past the onrushing goalkeeper. As we moved into the second half, we continued to create chances and R. Gurney came into the game and did not allow anyone past him in defence. His awareness and performance were excellent all afternoon. Midway through the second half, we got another goal from C. Vaughan who received an excellent pass from C. Killpack which split the defence and C. Vaughan finished it low into the goal. To round off the great afternoon, C. Killpack was able to get his name on the scoresheet as C. Vaughan turned excellently away from the defender and slotted a pass into the path of C. Killpack who smashed the ball home to make it four. Overall, it was an excellent performance from everyone involved, moving on to our next game on Thursday.

Result : 8-4 Loss
Scorers : B. Latham (X2), N. Gurung, C. Holt
Squad : Z. King (GK), D. Williams (Capt), K. Frigot, J. Magkafourakis, C. Holt, A. Tobias, E. Boyce, J. Huryta, N. Gurung, B. Latham, K. Sheehy, Y. Mushtaq
Commended performances : K. Sheehy, C. Holt
Comment : BMS started the game very slowly and within 10 minutes found themselves 2-0 and on the backfoot. The team did create few chances but were unable to capitalise on them and unfortunately found themselves 4-1 down at half time. Despite this the team didn’t give up and showed fight and started to fight their way back into the game closing the gap ever so slightly. BMS did play well towards the end and played some good football and did score some good chances. Unformatelly they did come out defeated but were in high spirits. We look forward to building on this performance in training and future matches.
Year 7B Boys v Queens C (Friendly) AWAY Mr Kwok
Date: Friday 20th September 2024
Result: Lost 4-1
Scorers: V Norcup
Squad: F Carney, A Hodgeson, J Pearce, A Joslin, A Lake, D Hope, D Vraciu, A Nguyen, V Norcup, B Stanley, M Thomas Buck
Commended performances: M Thomas Buck, A Hodgeson, F Carney
Comment: The year 7 boys started the game brightly, creating many good chances through fantastic passing football in Queen’s half and opened the scoring. Unfortunately we weren’t able to put away our chances and Queens soon equalised and went into halftime with the score tied at 1-1. In the second half the boys created further chances but Queen’s upped their effort and began to take control in the midfield, running out eventual winners 4-1. It was a fantastic effort by the boys in their first friendly of the season and they can look forward to building upon this performance.
Year 11 Boys v Rickmansworth (District PREM League) AWAY Mr Cartledge
Date : Tues 24th September 2024
Result : Lost 2-1
Scorers : M Wong
Squad : J Gladdy (Capt), Z Watson, B Okeke, M Wong, L Fearnside, A Worth, G Guainiere, S Mowle, Z Bertie, E Ansa Otu, R Christou Totesaut, K Fung, Commended performances : Z Watson, A Worth
Comment : The Year 11 boys produced an excellent performance and were extremely unlucky to lose a closely contested Premier League fixture. The boys were much improved from their opening match against Queens producing some excellent passing football and resolute defending. There were few chances in the first half and the game came to life with an excellent strike from M Wong early in the 2nd half to put the boys in front. The boys then held out with Z Watson making some outstanding savers before 2 late goals saw the boys defeated. A fantastic effort by all the team who can be proud of their efforts.
NETBALL
Year 11 Netball V Parmiters (League) Away- Mrs Cooper
Date: Monday 23rd September 2024
Result: Lost 21-13:
Squad: E Bird, Z O’Brart, V Hill, A Gibson, L Qarib,S Doran, L Winslett.
Commended performances: S Doran (Voted by opposition)
Comment: This was the girls first game of the season and what a fantastic game it was. In the first quarter Parmiters took the lead with some impressive shooting and defending. However in the first half of the second quarter we managed to level the scores with improved passing to players and into our shooting circle. Parmiters responded and at half time the score was 11-8 to Parmiters. The girls gained confidence and marked their players tight and made a number of well timed interceptions. In the third quarter L Qarib, E Bird and L Winslett worked very hard in creating space and making great interceptions. In the last quarter despite tight and good decision making by A Gibson and Z O’Brart. Parmiters increased their lead to 8 goals. The shooting by both S Doran and V Hill was very impressive as they were against some strong defenders. As always the girls worked hard for each other to the final whistle. A strong start to the season. Well done.
Year 11 Netball V Watford Girls (League) Away- Mrs Cartledge
Date: Tuesday 24th September 2024
Result: Lost 22-15
Squad: E Bird, M Baines, V Hill , L Qarib ,S Doran, L Winslett. A Permeti. J Isles
Commended performances: L Winslett for excellent movement around the court.
Comment: Watford girls began with extremely quick passing and movement. By the first quarter they led by 3 goals. We defended well and as our confidence improved the passing and movement down court became stronger. In the last quarter the girls worked hard to narrow the goal deficit and managed to finish with only a 7 goal difference. A special mention must go to A. Permetti and J Isles for playing at short notice against a team 2 years above them.
This was a great effort against a strong team. We will build on this performance for the next game against Rickmansworth.
Year 10 Netball V Watford Girls (League) Away- Mrs Cartledge
Date: Tuesday 24th September 2024
Result: lost 8-7
Squad: H Sookhoo. A Gibson. R Chudasma. M Rumney. N Edirisuriya. A Belghiru. E Millings.
Commended performances: H .Sookhoo (voted by the opposition)
Comment :This was a very evenly matched game with some great interceptions and strong movement down court. Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter and by half time the score was 4-3 to Bushey Meads. The girls settled into the game and began to gain more confidence. Watford girls were very quick and it was great that our girls took their time to make the correct pass. In the final quarter the girls worked really hard but unfortunately lost by one goal.
A great first game back. Well done Girls.
