8 Beech Assembly delivered by Mr Mitchell

It was brilliant to have Head of Beech House, Mr Mitchell run his assembly for 8 Beech this week.

With kindness being the theme, Mr Mitchell and the students discussed the varying ways they had each shown an act of kindness.

Through points made in Mr Mitchell’s assembly, the students began to realise how we display acts of kindness everyday without realising it. Whether that’s by giving a compliment, wiping down tables before peers enter the class or simply holding the door open for someone in the corridor.

Many of the students in my Character Development Group, 8 Beech, are already showing these kind gestures, but to encourage more of this I have set them the challenge to perform at least one act of kindness to a peer or staff member every day.

Peter Nicolaou and Chloe Shiers work together to get into character development time early in order to wipe the tables before the rest of the group get in. Joshua Rainbow makes sure the windows are always open and does this without any instruction. These may seem like small and simple gestures, however this goes a long way in keeping the school safe in the current climate.

This week’s assemblies link to Mrs Ash’s Kindness Thought of the Week showing how a small act of kindness can help build a positive environment like the one we have at Bushey Meads.
