In Autumn term Year 9 had completed their cooking and nutrition topic and learnt to make a range of sweet and savoury dishes. At the end of the topic they wanted to share their own recipes from home and each decided to bring in a dish for the class to try. They enjoyed tasting each other’s dishes and swapping recipes that they could then try at home. At Hartsbourne, Year 2 have been learning about the different food groups and how important it is to eat 5 portions of fruits and vegetables each day. They designed and made their own fruit smoothies in pairs after lots of taste testing. Year 3 made winter celebration decorations. They began by choosing which celebration they wanted to create a decoration for and then tested materials to see what properties they wanted for their decorations. Their tests included folding, water resistance, abrasion and marking.
