Thursday 11th July saw the fifth of our five exciting, annual enrichment days at Bushey Meads. Students of all year groups were able to select from a range of 30 different activities, catering for all tastes and interests. Paintballing was a big favourite, as was Karting and climbing, with less physical trips such as those to Greenwich Observatory and Planetarium, Whipsnade, Paradise Park and Tiggywinkles small animal hospital, providing plenty of educational enjoyment to smaller groups. A flavourite (sic) activity was the walking food tour of Shoreditch, sampling delicacies on the way and hearing how they were made. The boxing taster, run by experts, also packed a punch. Another group of students went fishing – a terrific day supported by keen amateur fishermen. Those interested in pottery spent the day enjoying the facilities at West Herts College. Another group visited Phasels Wood and took part in a wide range of outside, physical activities
Back at school, students chose from activities including art, dance, PE or music for the day, with, many choosing to bake a ‘showstopper’ cake. Students keen on creative writing got to spend an entire day in the company of successful children’s author Sue Hampton. A group of history enthusiasts spent a day preparing for a medieval battle re-enactment on the field. And we mustn’t forget our year 8 Spain trip has been taking place at the same time.
Altogether, an amazing day of memories, some of which will last a lifetime.
