Brand New Extended Music Block at BMS

As all parents and carers are aware, significant developments at Bushey Meads School over the past two years have continued to transform our superb school with a number of major building projects now completed or nearing completion.

One of the most exciting developments has involved extending the hugely popular Music Block, well used by hundreds of students every week and now comprising two large teaching classrooms, 5 sound-proof practice and ensemble rooms, a state of the art music technology suite and additional sound recording facilities.

To mark the opening of this brilliant new facility for our school we have invited the National Heritage Foundation to unveil one of their prestigious Blue Plaques on the new building in honour of George Michael – arguably one of the most famous of Bushey Meads School’s ex Sixth Form students and world famous musician who sadly passed away on Christmas Day in 2016.

The event will take place on Sunday April 15th 2018 at 12.00 noon and all stakeholders are welcome to attend from 11.00 am for student performances and tours of the new building. It was at Bushey Meads School that George’s musical talent was nurtured and where he met his famous musical duo Andrew Ridgeley. It will be a great occasion to celebrate the current and past musical talent associated with the school and pay tribute to George Michael in this way.

We hope that he continues to inspire many generations of young people who pass through our wonderful school, benefiting from our outstanding provision in the Performing and Visual Arts, now greatly enhanced with our new state of the art Music facility.
