Humanities Student Leaders

Maintaining an interest in Geography, History and R.E.  amongst students has always been a priority for the Humanities faculty, especially for the new student Humanities’ leader recruits. Over the past few weeks these young leaders, along with the Humanities teachers, have been generating a series of ideas to create “wow” classrooms that are not only appealing to look at but also aid students’ engagement. These ideas include displaying more exemplary work to inspire students to do their very best and also factful timelines and maps to facilitate the process of remembering key dates for exams or practice during class time.

Student subject leaders have also attended faculty meetings to give their suggestions about how the teaching in the faculty can be further improved and to contribute to the creation of the faculty improvement plan. As part of this, the faculty is planning to further develop its use of older students helping teach in lessons as it is often said that the best way to learn is to teach. The faculty also hopes to make more use of its alumni to encourage students and to possibly encourage them to consider a career in the humanities.

From the above it is clear that the Humanities faculty along with their student leaders have proposed changes that will positively affect all humanities’ students. It seems this faculty  is the one to watch!
