What is National Apprenticeship Week?

National Apprenticeship Week is a campaign co-ordinated by the UK Government’s National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate the positive impact Apprenticeships and Traineeships have on individuals, businesses, and the economy of the UK. The aim of the nation wide campaign is to encourage even more people to choose Apprenticeships as a motivated, smart career path and is an important date as it means Apprenticeships are at the forefront of everyone’s mind.

What is the theme for 2018?

The theme of National Apprenticeship Week 2018 – #NAW2018 – is Apprenticeships Work to showcase how apprenticeships work for individuals, employers, local communities and the wider economy.

A message from the minister on #NAW2018

Anne Milton, Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills introduces the National Apprenticeship Week 2018 campaign.

How can you get involved?

From 5th to 9th March 2018 the nation will be buzzing about Apprenticeships. It’s the perfect opportunity to start thinking about your career options and find out why Apprenticeships are a great way for people to progress in work and life, whatever their age, gender or educational background.

Throughout the week we hope you will start to see how Apprenticeships enable people to earn whilst they learn, in a whole range of industries, and gain a great career with no debt.

Apprenticeship Myth Busters

  • Apprenticeships are only for people with bad grades

Apprenticeships are simply an alternative route into employment. Those choosing Apprenticeships are often ambitious and keen to learn and earn at the same time.

  • Businesses are not hiring Apprentices

The number of Apprenticeships businesses are hiring has increased. The government recently unveiled 16,000 new Apprenticeships. (The Huffington Post UK)
