Year 6 SEND Transition – Learning...
At Bushey Meads we are always looking at new innovative ways to ensure that our upcoming SEND students feel happy and settled upon entering the school in September. This year I have planned a robust transition programme. Last Thursday we had no less than 23 Year 6 pupils in for their first taste of secondary school life. We were so impressed with how they settled in for the afternoon and they all left with huge smiles. They had a delicious lunch of chicken wraps and rice and then went on to make ‘Chatter boxes’ to get to know one another. The staff really enjoyed themselves too. Upon request from a ‘Chatter-box’ Mrs Hughes was doing star jumps with Miss Chalkley!
This is going to be a weekly activity for SEND students to have a peaceful and calm transition into the Bushey Meads family.
