Women in Sport Conference
On Thursday 25th April 5 students from Bushey Meads attended a ‘Women in sport’ conference at Queens school. It was organised  by Arsenal football club. The students included K Branigan, L Kirby, S Parkhouse, H Nabi, A Verrinder and I Harry Brown.
There were many talks from inspirational women throughout the day including a physio, a top football journalist from the Observer newspaper, a football coach, a sports media/ events organiser and an England captain and player. It was so interesting to hear about all the different jobs there are in sport and really importantly what these women had to do to achieve these jobs in terms of qualifications, work experience and have a general passion for the job.
A highlight of the day came when Amy Lawrence ( Journalist) set a task for the girls to write a report on a football match. H Nabi and I Harry-Brown wrote a fantastic report and Henna read it out to the whole audience. Amy said it was the best report of the day and afterwards commented to me how brilliantly it had been written and read out. Well done girls.!
It was a fantastic day with many brilliant tips and advice to take away about perseverance and hard work. Thank you to Sarah Cooper for organising the trip and also to arsenal ladies for the inspirational day.
