After reflecting on some amazing results from last year’s artists, musicians, dramatists and dancers we begin the new academic year with a buzz in the air.
Already arts students have hit the ground running with plenty of exciting lessons happening in the first week. The photos in this article give you a snapshot of what has been going on from team building activities in drama with our new year 7s through to some incredible art GAP task home learning created by our new GCSE artists.
We are looking forward to another year of incredible events. Preparations are already underway with auditions looming for our whole school musical. This year ghouls and monsters will hit the Bushey Meads stage in the shape of The Addams Family.
Over the next few weeks we have an array of trips and activities planned. This Friday our GCSE art students will be visiting the National Portrait Gallery – a great opportunity for our students to experience some aspirational art work ready to inspire them throughout the year. Watch this space for other forthcoming theatre and dance trips to excite our students.
We aim to be adding to our already packed extra-curricular timetable with two new theatre companies, a film club and more site specific dance workshops. Our new gallery opened towards the end of last year and will see some excellent exhibitions throughout the year. There is even talk of our staff sharing their art work in a Bushey Meads Teachers art exhibition! It’s going to be an exciting year.
