Leadership has been a key Theme of the Week this week and it has been great to hear our inspiring Student Leadership Coordinator Mr Burley lead the Main School Assemblies. The theme has coincided with our hugely important Head Boy and Girl interviews – interviews which appoint our top student leaders in the school who head up our vibrant Student Parliament, represent the school at important events throughout the year, liaise with Governors and visitors to the school, lead tours for potential parents and candidates on interview at the school and also interview prospective teachers.
All in all they play a hugely important role in the school, being the role models for all students and facilitating ongoing improvements to the school. We are delighted with the appointment of Isaac Nesbeth as our new Head Boy and Andrea Tamang as Head Girl and wish them well in their key roles. The quality of the field of applicants was very strong and they all did exceptionally well to be shortlisted and presented themselves very well at the interview; it was a very tough decision for the panel to make.
Mr Burley’s assembly reminded all students that they are all leaders – of themselves and those around them. He reminded students of the attributes of a true leader – loyalty, empathy, aspiration, determination, empowerment and responsibility. He also reminded all students of our own BMS Keys to Success displayed in every classroom around the school – the keys very much underpinned by the students leading themselves to be great learners and young people who truly achieve their potential.
How lucky we were to get a rare tour around the state of the art training academy at WFC. The Yr 10 GCSE PE group were one of the first community groups to see around the facility...
