It was encouraging to join our superb Year 10 students in their Main School Assembly on Wednesday morning led by Associate Leader and Head of Sixth Form Mr O’Kelly. The theme of the assembly was initiative and students reflected on the link between thoughts and actions and how important it is to be a ‘self starter’ to be able to take initiative and ensure impact.
Initiative is something the year group have demonstrated in abundance with over 50% of them taking great initiative in arranging their work experience weeks taking place next week through their own contacts – via family and friends. As a school we find that these placements are often the most successful and help to shape the students’ futures into Post 16 and beyond.
Our inspirational Work Related Learning Coordinator Ms McIldowie spoke at the end of the excellent assembly and provided some top tips to further support our Year 10 students next week and ensure continued success.
